Birth Plan, Birth Preferences, Birth Options

Birth plan.  Birth preferences. Birth wishes.  Preferred birth options.

These are common phrases that we use to discuss the topic of options for birth with clients.  Exploring the many options available to you for birth can be an exciting process for some and one that feels quite overwhelming to others.

With so many options available to families today, you may not know where to start.

We’ve put together an handy graphic that lists the most common birth options we encounter in the Tucson community and we are happy to explore these more in depth with clients during our pre-birth visits.

The choices that you make for your birth are as individual as you are.  Therefore, you may prefer a birth with few interventions, wanting to choose the most natural route for your big day.  Another approach may be to have an epidural from the first contraction and the convenience and predictability of a planned induction for your baby’s arrival.

Maybe the thought of giving birth terrifies you and your choice is to have a cesarean birth instead.  No matter the choice you make, you can be confident that your Tucson Doulas support you unconditionally and have the training skills and knowledge to help you feel confident in your choices.

When it comes to birth planning the key is flexibility. Knowing available options will help you to make decisions you can feel confident about on the fly.

While you can plan for your baby’s birth to a certain degree, the body or the baby may need to take a different path.

Having a doula by your side who knows your wishes, hopes and dreams for your birth can allow you to focus on the moment while feeling confident that a member of your chosen team has their eye on the bigger picture.

There are times when a detour must be taken from the “plan”, your Tucson Doulas can help you navigate this with a focus on preserving as much of the remaining plan as possible.

Tucson Doulas offers birth plan consultations as a a-la-carte option.  Contact us today to learn more!

It really helped when you explained how women have different birth options! Recently, my wife and I found out we’re expecting our first baby! We’re very excited about it, and we’re researching everything we can about babies and birth, so I’ll be sure to share your article with my wife! Thanks for the advice on how we’ll need to keep an open mind during our child’s birth!
