Tucson’s Only Certified Postpartum Placenta Specialists
Your certified postpartum placenta specialist is so much more than someone who merely turns your placenta into capsules. We are your postpartum recovery expert. We understand that you have questions about your recovery, caring for your baby and adjusting to life as a growing family.
This is why we only encapsulate your placenta in the safety and comfort of your own home.
Our postpartum placenta specialists are trained and certified by the most rigorous safety standards available in the United States. Before we begin, we will sit with you to explain the process from start to finish. Once the encapsulation process begins, you may have as much (or as little) involvement as you wish. We are happy to explain to you what we are doing and why. We also leave you with detailed instructions for use.
In addition to current certification, our specialists renew their certifications in bloodborne pathogens (meets the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard) and safe food handling annually. We are current and up to date on the rigorous standards of health and safety set forth by OSHA and the EPA to ensure that the process is done safely and properly at all times.
The first weeks after birth are often as exhausting as they are beautiful. While it’s important for us to provide you with safe encapsulation, we also provide you with feeding assistance, newborn and self-care information, and support while we are in your home.
You benefit from a skilled and experienced set of eyes checking in on you and your baby in the comfort of your own home in the early days following birth. We can help identify any possible red flags, feeding problems and help get your post-birth recovery back on track.
We deliver the support you need when you need it most.
What does science say?
Not much. There are no quality human studies on the benefits of placenta encapsulation, at this time. By quality, we are talking randomized, controlled, double-blind trials on the effects of placenta consumption in humans. What does exist are many animal studies show the benefits of placental consumption in mammals.
For the time being, the evidence for the benefits of placentophagy (placenta consumption) is anecdotal. However, the reports from the many individuals who have ingested their placentas are overwhelmingly positive.
Some of the reported benefits include:
- Increased energy
- Decreased postpartum bleeding
- More stable mood
- A decrease in the incidence of baby blues
- A decrease in the incidence of postpartum depression
- Improvement in the overall sense of well-being
